Congratulations to Cecilia Hinojosa who presented her research in Washington DC and met with Congressman Beto O’Rourke! Ceci, who graduated this May with a degree in Psychology, was one of 60 undergraduate researchers selected from hundreds of applicants nationwide to present their research at Capitol Hill. Ceci has been conducting research for 3 years under the mentorship of Dr. Laura O’Dell. Her work in neuroscience is aimed at understanding why the effects of nicotine addiction are stronger in diabetic patients. Ceci began conducting research as part of the SMART-MIND program, and also participated in other COURI programs. She was a BUILDing SCHOLAR here at UTEP and has now begun her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Tuffts University in the fall. |
